Know Where Your Meat Comes From.

Our family has been raising cattle for 6 generations. We were sustainable long before sustainability was a thing.

Why Lazy Arrow Meats

Sustainable Before It Was a Word.

The Morrisons started raising cattle in the late 1800s on a family ranch in Calabasas, California — back when Thousand Oaks was still rolling pasture and cowboys drove cattle on horseback to the stockyards in downtown Los Angeles. Through the Great Depression and World War II, the family recycled and reused to survive — not as a fashion statement, but because it was the only way. That same mentality lives on at Camatta Ranch today. It means we don't cut corners. It means the beef you put on your grill is the result of over a century of hard-earned ranching knowledge, raised slowly and naturally right here on the Central Coast.

Our Standards

How We Raise Our Animals Matters.

With a veterinarian father and a zoologist mother, Mark was raised with a profound respect for animal welfare. The bar for care isn't just high, it's woven into our DNA. When you buy a share, you are supporting a holistic, humane approach that prioritizes the health of the animal and the land above all else. Every animal in our program has access to adequate food, water, and natural shelter. We treat animals when they're sick or injured, minimize the use of cattle prods, and strive to raise our cattle as humanely as possible. It is essential to maintain a balance between proper use of the land, health of the cattle, and water.

The Land

Cows That Heal the Soil.

Regenerative agriculture is a practice used to balance nature and agriculture — the two go hand in hand. Our cattle are rotated across different paddocks so grazed areas have time to rest and regrow. As the herd moves, their hooves naturally till the soil, and dung beetles bury nutrients deep into the ground, creating more life with every pass. Pasture-raised cattle take longer to mature, which means our animals live longer, healthier lives on the hills before harvest.

This spring, with the completion of the conservation easement on the ranch, we are now able to maintain the large grassland pastures of the Camatta in perpetuity for continued regenerative agriculture — which benefits the land, the animals, and ultimately the people who eat them.

"When you nourish yourself with pasture-finished beef and pork from the Camatta Ranch, you become a part of our mission in reinvigorating the soil and adding life back to this earth and its beings."
